Terrorism task force nabs W. Memphis, TN. man
CA: Terrorism task force nabs West Memphis man
This makes two Memphis-area residents who may have been involved in terrorist activity:
An investigation by a terrorism task force has led to the conviction of a convenience store owner who unlawfully withdrew millions of dollars and sent much of it overseas.
Hasan Ali Ayesh, a Palestinian who became a U.S. citizen in 2002, had his citizenship revoked and was sentenced to five years probation, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said Tuesday.
That doesn’t say anything in particular about Memphis, but it certainly doesn’t improve our image.
I don’t think the two were connected - they are from two different countries and were involved in totally different activities. The common factors: both are Middle-Eastern men who also had U.S. citizenship, both had a large amount of money, and both were involved in illegal operations on an international scale.
It seems the investigators are doing a good job, though there’s no telling how many more are out there.
